My subjects usually are from nature. I  bring out the rough form of  the rock formation so the texture of the grain stands out about 1/4 of an inch on canvas. The same thing on a tree with its crevices and bark curling. The sand feels like sand, and a building siding may feel like stucco.  God created this wonderful planet and all it’s color and I am just a speck in his kingdom and he has given me my talent so that I can share this with the world.

Moved from Chico/Paradise, California to Minden, NV in 2001. I was a career woman for 40 years in Data Processing as a programmer and manager. Retired in 1992, then I found art to be the next part of my life in creating just like I did as a programmer. All of my life I have always been artistic, whether it was sewing as I created my own patterns, re-upholstered furniture, decorating my home, created my own recipes, singing or playing a cello, piano etc.  All this is a form of art.  When I discovered,  I could draw a straight line and create a scene, my imagination went wild.

I took up classes in art, belonged to a video club of art, from all different painting artists. I have a collection of “How to do” videos, more than 200 so that I could slow the video down to watch how to use the paint brush, mix colors and learn the fine details in art. I started branching out learning all about mediums, mixed media textures and mixing gels with paint to form the feeling of being there at the scene. I encourage you touch the canvas. I started pastels after I moved to Nevada.

I have painted landscapes, still life, architectural drawings, animal portraits, floral, and portraits.  I also have a series of paintings of windmills from around the world. I paint what is in some way meaningful in my own life. The windmill series started when my nephew married a girl in Denmark and in front of the Cathedral was a windmill. I took the picture to be blown up so that I could get the detail, and the girl at the photo lab said she lived in Holland and had a picture of a drive thru windmill.  She blew the photo up and brought it to me.  Friend’s  started giving me pictures they took on their vacation trips of windmills, so alas my series started.  I have also painted lighthouses with texture described above,  from my travels thru the whole USA, and have sold many of those. I have been commissioned to paint special paintings.

I was a member of the Chico Art Center in Chico, Calif., and was a docent at Chico Art Center from 1992-2001, a member of the Paradise Art Center and a subscriber to Studio Notes and all artist magazine subscriptions. I have had exhibits in Chico & Paradise, Calif. such as at Butte College Coyote Gallery and  won an award,  Cory’s Treats,  Chico Art Center many times,  Paradise Art Center, Ca;  Cal Northern Law School,  Inner Journey Gallery,  Country Touch Floral Shop,  Art & Craft Show,  Fairs,  Malls.

I am now a member and docent of Nevada Art Association in Carson City, Nevada since 2001 and Carson Valley Art Association in Minden. Have paintings at the Brewery Art Gallery.
