Artist’s Statement
My name is Isabella DiBitonto and I am from Switzerland. When I was young, my father inspired me to explore the art of drawing. Soon after, when I went to elementary school, I became very fond of the drawing teacher there. Once we had the opportunity to paint on the school windows.
While working at a bank, I took an art class. We went to a beautiful museum and saw an exhibit of Monet. I had the chance to meet an art teacher when I was living in Geneva, and it was then that I began my first paintings.
Much later I moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where my husband was teaching at the University. I then decided to join the University Women’s Painters. I enjoyed it very much because I was able to paint outdoors with fellow artists, as well as in the home of one of the artists.
It was during my time in Alabama that I was able to first experience various mediums. At that time I attended workshops, and I also attended many art classes at the college and university in Tuscaloosa. We had may exhibits in my painting groups where I won two awards for my work.
I am currently living in Reno, and my husband and I have transformed a room in our garage into a paint room so that I can have my own studio where I can hang some of my favorite paintings from Alabama to inspire me. I am happy that I have been able to join the connection group here in Reno, where I can meet regularly with many talented artists of various skills as well as the Sierra Watercolor Society and the Nevada Artists Association.
I am blessed to have the opportunity to have my paintings in the homes in different parts of the United States and Switzerland. |
